The Shift: Among the Years

Crochet:

This part of my official journey with this company was when I officially started selling the products I made. I was finally out of the pruning phase of practicing my craft and beginning to showcase these talents to the world. The first was crocheting. At the time my business was named Tyler’s Tees and Things. My mom created this name as I was still learning and curiously learning new projects and ideas. Crocheting as you can see first took off from my mom’s Facebook page in 2015! At this time I had no interpretation on how things items made were supposed to cost so these hats were listed for $10. I did these custom to specific characters and ideas that were popular as you can see like the Minions, Elsa from Frozen, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and more!

2017: Me running my slime business from my basement, 8th grade

Slime:

When I began my slime journey is I believe when I began to see a shift. I was still in middle school in about 7th grade, energized by my curiosity and creativity, and ready to take my passion for crafting to the next level. Crochet became more than just a hobby for me; it became a way to express myself and connect with others.

Word quickly spread about my crochet skills, and before I knew it, I was receiving requests from family and friends to make custom items for them. What started as a simple hobby soon turned into a small business opportunity for me. I began crafting and selling my crochet creations to those closest to me, delighting them with handmade scarves, hats, and blankets.

But it didn’t stop there. The power of the internet allowed my creations to reach people beyond the borders of my own country. Through online platforms, I connected with customers from all around the United States, and even received orders from abroad, marking my first venture into the global market.

Embarking on this slime journey not only honed my crafting skills but also taught me valuable lessons about entrepreneurship, customer satisfaction, and the power of creativity. It showed me that with dedication and passion, a simple hobby can transform into a thriving enterprise that transcends borders and connects people from diverse backgrounds.

So, whether it is a crochet hook or a container of slime, a creative passion can take you places you never imagined. My journey began in middle school, fueled by curiosity and ignited by creativity. And to this day, I continue to explore new horizons, sharing my love for crafting with the world, one stitch (or slime blob) at a time.
