The Process

In Person:

Etsy: You should have seen the look on my parent’s faces when I said I wanted to start an online business. I was in middle school heading to high school within the next year. No bank account. Debit card. Let alone able to keep my room clean and I was bothering them about starting my own business with a website they had never even heard of.

My Room: Doing crochet and smaller crafts like rainbow loom or duct tape, I was able to make and finish my crafts in my room. I had a huge storage bin under my bed where I would store all my supplies at the time as I was making at the time for family/friends or just trying new things/letting time fly.

My Basement: I did not transition my business to my business until I bought my first sewing machine. I needed space for a table to accurately cut and measure fabric to sew into endless creations. I remember that being one of my first big girl purchases using some money I got for Christmas and then having to borrow extra money from my mom to buy fabric to practice. I was so excited and filled with joy walking out of that craft store with something I was able to buy on my own, and my imagination of the future ran wild. I did not sell anything with my sewing machine but instead made endless pillows, blankets and seat cushions to the point our house could not stand anymore.

To this day, I still have not gotten rid of my sewing machine, but I transitioned on to something else.
